Well I did get a response from Phil and it seems redistributing a modified pkg-get is not allowed! I was looking at Createrepo and Smart Package Manager. Createrepo is tightly coupled with RPM and will take some effort to port to SVR4. I am considering extending my little get-pkgs utillity to create a new repository client. This appears to be the least cost path at present. However the advanced features of Smart Package Manager are too good to ignore so we can have this on the roadmap.
