I am very surprised that you get the unzip failure after a clean restart of vista. Are you sure this is the case? Is the problem always repeatable?

I would really like to track this down. Please verify that after a clean start of vista that the install fails. And then, after a clean start try to delete the J j602 folder. Can you delete it? After you delete it, does the install run to completion?

If the install reports the unzip failed, then the install really isn't complete. It may be 99% complete, but there are going to be some files which as missing or not updated. And the program group won't be installed (although it may well be there from an earlier successful install).

I have seen this happen on previous betas and shut down instances of J
running and had the install succeed; however, this time that didn't work and
so I restarted Vista. It still failed. About J reported that i beta was
installed and seemed to work OK.

The only way that I can see for the Unzip failed message is for a file in
the install folder to be in use. Is this possibly the case for you? Note
that this doesn't have to be as obvious as having an ijx window on your
screen. It could be an old run of J that crashed leaving nothing visible
but
still holding the j.exe and j.dll files. You might get additional info in
task manager. In an extreme case restarting your system may be necessary.

I also had Unzip Failed message, but do seem to have the install. My
shortcut to J602 is dated: Friday, September 28, 2007, 18:07:05

  JVERSION
Installer: j602ibeta_win.exe
Engine: j602/beta/2008-02-08/16:50
Library: 6.02.017

I have very occasionally seen this but have been unable to reproduce or
track down. So I believe you ;) Can you tell if the Start menu program
group

and icons were created? If you deleted them before doing the install this
is

easy to tell. If you didn't, the file timestamp may give evidence.
