If you want to participate in alpha/beta testing of music, picture and video support to external devices, you need LMS. I think the XBox360 have a built-in UPnP client so theoretically you should be able to stream music, video and pictures to the XBox360 which is handled by your LMS server. However, please note that LMS is currently in alpha or possibly beta state, so be prepared to do some troubleshooting and help finding bugs if you install that.
