And now, to play a bit of the Devil's advocate, here's an incident
that happened to me just last week.

I was helping my middle son with his move to a new university, and we
were driving on a main road toward his rental. There were two girls on
cruisers riding down the middle of the street in front of us at a
walking pace. I courteously followed them for like four blocks and
noted that the traffic was backing up behind us. Fearing that somebody
would do something stupid like try to pass me and the cyclists on a
busy road, I honked at the two girls, who both turned and flipped me
off. After two more blocks, and people behind me honking, they finally
turned off.

I was embarrassed and saddened by the incident because bad PR is
something we don't need.
