You can do even better than that: http://piaw.blogspot.com/2008/09/introducing-piaw-routing.html You can weigh the Garmin unit towards smaller roads, which I found gave me incredibly scenic rides even through places where my 1:200000 Michelin maps didn't cover to that level of detail. The downside (which isn't really a downside) is that you have to be prepared to ride dirt at times.
