You can weigh the Garmin unit towards smaller roads, which I found
gave me incredibly scenic rides even through places where my 1:200000
Michelin maps didn't cover to that level of detail. The downside
(which isn't really a downside) is that you have to be prepared to
ride dirt at times.

Nevertheless, I've gone from being a GPS skeptic to a convert just
because of this feature.
