I can understand this logic.

Hi all, I believe that the mostly positive response to American Blackbelly as opposed to Barbado as a name for our horned sheep is because the name Barbado is just so similiar to Blackbelly Barbados that many people assume it is a synonym or a short form of the name. Using the name American Blackbelly immediately indicates that one is talking about a different breed than Blackbelly Barbados. I usually don't even try to explain to most people what Barbado is- it's more complicated than most want to know. I also think that American Blackbelly would include Canada- indeed, all of North America and even any that might have strayed to the south. Thanks for listening.
