I have not read the other answers, but you need to contact the USDA Animal Damage control boys in your area. Call the USDA Natural Resources Conservation service if you cannot find their number and ask them for a contact.. Have them survey the damage, and look over your place for signs to verify the kind of predator you have. They will probably put out traps. Leghold work best. It is the only way to catch a sneaky predator. If I was betting on what you are up against, I would bet it is a dog...
From what you are describing, a burro or LLama will not do any good. A guard dog would probably be another loss of money also, as this predator will probbly kill your guard dog also. Traps are the only way to take care of it. But first call the animal damage control guys to create a record of your loss. It ain't pretty, but it is just business.........
