Hi Susan,

I am also interested in knowing just how small the gene pool is for the
"true" polled BBs.
As I gathered from various posts in the past, it is very small.
If that is the case, the future of the polled version of BBs is
dependant on new blood being brought in from Barbados. Long term
inbreeding is a dead end road.
I hope we do get new blood, I raise horned bbs but I would rather throw
in more unrelated polled blood from Barbados than turn to some other
breed of hairsheep to cross with.

Chris

Hi, I agree that Barbados Blackbelly sheep should not have horned
genetics.
This was one of my passing thoughts when I saw so many breeders of
polled
BB's in the United States. Only cause I thought the gene pool was so
small
I thought there might be a genetic problem popping up once in awhile.
Without blood testing everyone of those BB how will you be able to tell
if
there is "horned" blood running through the BB's? I wonder how many
"True"
BB there really are.....would you know??? Sue
