This is true. The Barbados Blackbelly was close to extintion in thirty years
ago and Texas Barbados have been shipped to Barbados to improve the genetics
on the Island of Barbados.

Ron Tabers Meat Sheep Shepherd Manual , a an excellent book about hair
sheep management, has details about the shipment of Barbados sheep to the
Island. http://www.meatsheep.org/

The Barbados Island has today the same mix up of hair sheep as Mexico, some
are tan and black, others brown or white.
