Just a quickie: a common pitfall is having a wrong keyboard type specified in XFree's config file. If you don't put in at least a 104 keys type (I believe) it's no good. You can't map what doesn't exist, and with 102 keys or less keyboard, X thinks there are no Win keys. Ciprian Popovici
