After thinking about this (and installing HAL), I'm thinking that D-Bus belongs on one page and *all* the D-Bus bindings belong on another page. It would be trivial to have an individual section for each flavor of the bindings, each with its own xref label for referencing. > Most of the GNOME packages want dbus-glib in addition to dbus, just > like kdebase wants dbus-qt3 in addition to dbus. I think we may as well go ahead and make the changes, there can't be that many instances to change, and a trivial grep will identify the necessary changes. > I agree. Seems the biggest issue is of course, the KDE bindings, but we also need to address the issue of the gzipped pci.ids file that chokes HAL. My solution is a script that I run called pciids_update that calls the actual update-pciids program and then: mv pci.ids.gz pci.ids.gz.SAVE cp pci.ids.gz.SAVE pci.ids.gz gunzip -f pci.ids.gz mv pci.ids.gz.SAVE pci.ids.gz Then, init scripts run the above at boot which updates both the gzipped and non-gzipped versions of the pci.ifs file. We've discussed this before and most determined they didn't want it updated at boot, so we have to figure out when/where to do it. Or, figure out a better solution. Other notes: 1. I added a --docdir parm to HAL so the docs are installed in a version directory. 2. I didn't touch the default HAL rules and/or policies as I am not familiar enough to recommend changes. -- Randy rmlscsi: [bogomips 1003.23] [GNU ld version 2.16.1] [gcc (GCC) 4.0.3] [GNU C Library stable release version 2.3.6] [Linux 2.6.14.3 i686] 09:02:00 up 10 days, 13:59, 1 user, load average: 0.04, 0.05, 0.00 -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
