hello mike
i have managed to finally create a message rule and i have saved the info you sent to me as a word document in notepad.
however i need to do one more thing.
although i managed to get all to go in the t a f n folder it also includes personal emails to my email address. i have an email address with t a f n and of course all those go to the t a f n folder as well. now how can i prevent personal emails from going to the other folder without deleting the rule and starting all over again and of course thank you for the update for m s e that you sent when replying to Gerald and Andre

Hi Yvonne;

If the steps I sent you don't answer your questions, Forward me the email
you are trying to make a message rule for at the email address below and
I'll modify the steps for the specific email.

Take care.
Mike

 hi mike
you answered something a while ago for me but i can't remember what to do.
 i asked about message rules.
i can get to these stages

1 find required message and open the message.
arrow down to body of message.
3 press alt key and find thing called create message rule.
4 checkmark where the from line says contains people.
5 checkmark move to the specified folder.

the next 2 stages are where i am stuck

apply this rule after the message arrives.
not sure what to do here.

 name of the rule
not sure what to do there.

 then ok

wonder if you could help me with this
 thank you

2 move to the specified folder 3
 Yvonne
