radio shack makes an audio impedance matching cable that will do this, you
just need to add either a set of adapters to utilize two such cables to
maintain the original stereo mix, or adaptive ends to make the mono cable
align up with and work on the stereo plugs of the headphone jack and the
computers mike jack port.

Is there a resistance cable made to use a cd player hooked to your sound
card to transfer the music to the computer? I remember such a cable for
audio use in the late 1960s. I do not remember what impedance would be
required to match for the mic input from an ear phone output.
