Hi,
yeah, in the long run it is easier just to pick one os and stick with
it. Especially, if you use allot of win32 API programming. The Win32 API
is the backbone for doing dialogs, buttons, check boxes, etc in Windows
using C++.
Fortunately, the .NET framework API is much easier to use with .NET
languages, but the Win32 is ok once you know how to do it.
In either case i recommend using Visual Studio 2003 or higher for
writing your apps. If you still want to do Win32 programming just select
it from the C++ application types, and the .NET stuff won't be used. Why
do I suggest VS 2003 or VS 2005?
Well, in prier versions of Visual Studio it was practically impossible
to design a dialog box let alone anything more complicated in C++. Many
blind users ended up using Borland C++ Builder for that reason.
I don't know what your class is using but Visual C++ 6 isn't all that
accessible when it comes to Windows programming that involves MFC and
Windows win32 API.
