bAll: Can I get some clarification of just what type of hammer drill some are
using?? Here's why I'm a little confused.

There are, or at least were, combination hammers and hammer drills available.
I know Bosch and Black & Decker distributed these and maybe others did two.
They had a large hex head that could accommodate both a carbide bit and either
a point or a chizzle for demolition work. The points and chizels had a round
shaft, so they didn't spin, and the impact was of course in line with the point
or chizzle. Now, again, it's been a while, but I believe that if you inserted
a carbide drill bit into one of these tools, it would act like a very heavy
conventional drill until you put pressure on the bit, at which time you had a
spinning drill bit, and like in the case of a point or chizel, the impact was
in line with the tool. Is this what you guys are thinking about, or is the
action more like say an impact wrench?
Thanks for any illumination.
