Have you tried using vim? All the pages are in the pages folder of
your field and my goal has been to make them virtually identical to
what you see in the edit box. There are only two differences to keep
in mind that I can think of:

1) The < symbol is encoded as < for security reasons, though it's
on the roadmap to change that...

2) You'll see the data (otherwise hidden) at the bottom of each page.
Which means you can edit that info directly as well, as long as you
are careful about the format.

I personally edit files all the time on my code editor, as it's just
easier and faster when I'm overhauling whole sections of my site. But
Kevin is right--you will have to reindex your modified pages (create a
custom index list that reindexes all the pages modified within 24
hours for example), and you won't have stamps of any pages in there
condition just before the change.

If we need to make some change to BoltWire to allow use of an external
editor, let me know what needs to be done. I'm happy to oblige.

Cheers,
Dan
