ok a couple things to try (for lack of any good ideas :D):

Your boom is on variable volume and has the issue, your touch and radio
are on 100% and don't experience it. Maybe change the radio to variable
volume and see if it mimics the boom?

Maybe try connecting the boom to mysqueezebox.com at night (with the
lower volume setting), then see if the same problem occurs in the
morning

This might help you determine if the problem is player, variable volume
setting, lms, or network related. With these weird problems I like to
start swapping and see when the problem stays or moves...

finally, can we assume you are at the latest version of LMS, and the
firmware for the players? Not sure that matters, but who knows...
