If a boy (or a girl) is measured as significantly more confident  
about their ability than their performance shows they have a right to  
be, what is loaded about the term "over-confidence"? Or are you just  
being grumpy because you don't like the implications of the  
research?  In any case, we should wait until we read the actual study  
so we can see if the researcher chose those words - she may not have.

I think you'll find that 20 years is no time at all when it comes to  
addressing deeply embedded attitudes about gender. Do you have a  
problem with girls being told they are just as capable as boys?
