Hi Sammie;
Sounds like a good method. When do you give them your credit card
number? I would not rather send it at the beginning. Who knows who
might get their hands on it. Also I want to know what my bill will be
before I give them my number.

Hello List,
Mr. Stigile is correct. HumanWare always sends me an E-mail
when the repairs are completed and they direct UPS to send me a
tracking number. Maybe this is because I request this service
when I call them to get the RMA number. I also ask, at that
time, that they inform me of any repairs they find that are not a
part of my written or oral request. I get the name of the
customer service person I speak with and then I check in about
ten days as to the status of the repairs.
I also place a written letter in the shipping container, on
top of my BrailleNote, annotating what I want HumanWare to do.
In this letter, I include the RMA number, my home address, a
phone where I can be reached, and my E-Mail address. My device
is worth more than six thousand dollars, and I leave as little to
chance as possible. When the repairs are complete, and the
device is ready for shipping, UPS sends a message which tells me
the date I will receive the device and the tracking number. I
usually receive the message two or three days before delivery. I
always send my device for two day delivery and HumanWare returns
it the same way.
When you send your device in for repair or transplant, bee
sure you tell the customer service representative that you want
to be notified of any additional repairs and that you'd like to
have a tracking number when your device is shipped. The
representative will put this information in your service order,
but you can ensure it's there by reiterating your request when
you call for a status report.

That would delay the repair even longer. Some of us want our
units back as son as possible, and we shipped the unit in for
service anyways.
