Vicky, I personally wouldn't want to issue a System Shut Down and put the unit in storage as with the C1 C4 Reset, the word "Off" still remains on the Braille display. With placing it in storage in this state, there is the potential of the first three Braille cells being damaged while in storage.

Of course, I'm not saying that is what happened, but just wondering if turning it off with the c1 and c4 when putting it in storage would make any more difference than using the c4 only? Apparently, unlike the other BrailleNotes, the PK cannot be left fully uncharged for a prolonged length of time. If the batteries are left completely flat for a while, the lithium cells will lock and won't allow the battery to charge again. I have actually seen this happen to another PK which could not be charged, or even switched on, after it had been left flat for a few weeks. I don't know exactly how long the batteries can last before the lock, but it is something to bear in mind if you plan to leave your unit unplugged or in storage for a long time.
