Charity, You can use the bn with the case open and strapped to you. I don't know what case you have, but mine has the strap on it and a metal platform that is velcroed to the case on which the bn hooks, so it can't fall out. When the case is open, the lid or flap can be tucked under or allowed to hang down. I usually carry my bn with the strap around my neck and one arm through, so that the bn hangs on one side of me, usually my right side. When I want to access it, I just swing it around, open it, turn it on and vrala, off I go! Hth
