Well said, Jonathan. I know that everyone concerned would much rather get their software sooner than waiting for humanware to repackage everything. Even if one had gotten a 6.1, and I don't think that would have happened, all they would have had to do was to download the 6.1.1. update and install it. I, for one, would rather see you guys put your efforts into the next version as soon as possible<grin>.

Thanks Jonathan for issuing such a statement. You will please everyone. There are those on this list that are hellbent on complaining, taking, feeling the need to send numerous messages with the same old complaints. Yes, I'm one of those who are anxiously awaiting my release of keysoft 6.11. I will get it when I get it. I would rather for Humanware concentrate on the best product possible than to release a product before it is time.

While I like bells and whistles like the next person, I would rather Humanware concentrate on making a great product even better than to introduce a product that has a lot of bells and whistles without addressing the improvement of email and internet support. Internet and email support is more important than an alarm that will tell us when we are at sea level. In other words, first things first. At 04:31 PM 5/4/2005, you wrote:
Hi Sarah, well the phrase damned if you do and damned if you don't comes
to mind here. There is absolutely no error here. We wanted to get KeySoft
6.11 out to customers as quickly as possible. Had we taken time to update
the labels of the cards that were already in the warehouse in the United
States, and I hasten to add that neither Braille nor print labels were
updated, then there would have been further delay, and we all know what
that would have meant in terms of traffic on this list. We did what we did
to get the software out to people that they so desperately wanted, and I
think this is putting the customer's needs first. keep in mind that 6.11
was a minor patch which for a few users had major consequences.
Nevertheless it is very easy to tell that you have 6.11 by checking the
build of the software on the CF card itself. This is in no way at all
different from the practice of many IT companies where labels are not
changed for minor build changes. In fact, one of our competitors recently
released a product, ironically also 6.1 of their software. A few weeks
later, they released another version, but they also called it 6.1. The
only way you know that there is a difference is by checking the build of
the software. At least we've made a new version number to make it clear
what you're getting, when you check the CF card. So I am absolutely
comfortable with the fact that we acted appropriately to get people their
software as soon as we practically could. While we'll never please
everyone, I'd bet my house on the fact that this decision is what the
majority of people would have had us do, since they wanted their software
without further delay. So if you want to call for my resignation over
getting the software out there as fast as we could, be my guest.
