I have further thoughts on why I think an append mode would be better.  If
one is in a document and wants to check battery power, the space function
would be disabled and that wouldn't be good.  I think it would disable some
of the functionality of the machine to disable the "space with" function.
Would it be possible to add both features and then everyone would be happy?
