By comparison, the last time I could take a bus to work, it took 
about 2.5 hours (walk to the nearest bus stop, ride all the way to 
the terminal downtown, wait for the other bus to arrive, ride it to 
where I needed to go) versus less than half an hour to drive.  (The 
last time I had a bicycle or was able to ride it to work or for a 
significant distance anywhere was at the beginning of the 1980s, 
before I got sick.)  Then of course there were the other places I 
worked that no bus came within several miles of, as well as the need 
at many places I worked (especially taught) to transport items (like 
a telescope) which were too big for a bicycle or the bus.
