Organising one myself, this idea, sorry to say it, sounds very silly.
Beginner Tournament's are supposed to be just that. By including quasi-experienced players just complicates things.
Furthermore, I believe that there are sufficient indoor tournaments held for these other "category of player"'s where teams have the option to send, what I would call, a development team. I agree with you to a certain extent that some people loose the chance to maximise their tournament experience, but I think without these beginner focused tournaments universities would loose a lot of new starters early on, which is not good in the growth of Ultimate in general.

With 3 established beginner tournaments in the Autumn term, surely someone could try something a little different?
