I have not measuread anything of the sort, and doubt if I coould reproduce my mashes precisely enough to ever get meaningful results. I do think that it is important to wet all the grains in the beginning, so as not to leave "dry pockets". Once all well wet, I believe circulating the wort ought to be as efficient.
