Hi, I was checking out the new Nørrebro Bryghus yesterday. Unfortunately they had sold out their first batches, and had nothing homemade on sale. I got a small taste of warm uncarbonated "red ale". Not bad, a bit young. I am sure it will be better when cold and carbonated. Still, a damn good initiaive to get a proper microbrewery in town.
I talked with the brewmaster, and explained that it costs a fortune to ship malt from Vejle. He said he'd be willing to sell an occasional sack of malt to us home brewers. He has pilsner malt, pale ale, munich, and some more that I do not remember, in 25 Kg sacks. When pressed, he mentioned that he pays about 3.50 kr/Kg for the base malt, and would be willing to sell it for about the same price. Some day "real soon now" I will borrow a wheel barrow and pick up a sack or two. -Heikki P.S.
