Hello,

The Icom R-7000 general coverage multi-mode ( AM/FM/CW/SSB ) scanner/receivers
which covered from 25 MHz to about 2 gHz covered the 800/900 range with no
frequencies blocked.

I still have one, but they are useless for monitoring the present digital
transmissions.

Subject: Re: [BVARC] Police/Fire call listening on UHF/VHF

congress passed a law prohibiting listening to analog cell phone calls when
someone published a congressmans phone conversation. if i remember this was
in the 800 mhz band. the early serial numbers of the icom w32a were capable
ot tuning where it should not. later after law was passed icom had to block
the freqs.

Someone may correct me on this, but except for a period during WW I, I don't
think there has ever been a law prohibiting the use of a receiver at any
frequency. Even if there were, it would be difficult to enfource.

Out of curiosity is it allowed to listen in on our radios? I looked up
scanner frequencies of 460.XXX range with a PL123.0 and scanned up and down
but heard nothing. Maybe it's blocked somehow. Just wanting to listen in
since we are in all this hurricane and flooded event situation. Any advise?
