Hi Barbara!

I've browsed through this document. Here are some impressions
(nothing technical, just some style remarks IMHO):

Entire Document

The "distro_const" utility is misspelled throughout the document,
sometimes missing the second 's' and sometimes with trailing 'r'.

You state several times that "distro_const" (and other tools)
need to be run as root. However, in the examples you show
a non-root prompt and invocations of pfexec. This might confuse
a developer who is not proficient in the OpenSolaris CLI environment.

Page 7

The sentence "Some core fields in the manifest field must be completed
manually by you" is vague and confusing for a non-native speaker. Also,
  it should be "manifest file".

  Better would be something like:

"You must fill in several core fields manually in the manifest file."

Page 15

In the paragraph beginning with "<finalizer>", you explicitly reference
the "distro_const package". However, the package is named "SUNWdistro_const".

Page 16

The explanations in the bullet list should either be complete sentences with
periods, or phrases, i.e. the first word in lower case.

Page 19

The caption "Using the ManifestReader" should read "Using the Manifest Reader"
and use a non-teletype font. Unless you really meant the script itself, in
which case it should be "Using ManifestRead".

Page 23

The sample script path "export/home/user1/test_my_pkg" is missing a leading
slash, '/'. In the same paragraph, the sample checkpoint name "my_test"
  should be in italics.

In the example steps beginning at the bottom and spilling over into page 24,
should "my_updated_manifest.xml" have a leading slash? This would imply
that the manifest should be in the root directory.

Page 30-31

In the examples, "im-mod slim_cd.xml" should be in teletype, not italics.

Obviously, I am not in a position to answer any of your topical
questions. :-) Also, I have not looked at the sample manifest in
the appendix.
