Barbara,
These are my comments.
/Page 5: "The distribution constructor is a command-line tool for
building preconfigured, bootable OpenSolaris images"/
The images are not always bootable. For example, AI image is not
bootable.
/Page 5: "These images are bootable and are usable for installation, for
creating a bootable CD or DVD, and other purposes"/
Same comment as above.
/Page 6: "For x86 image installation instructions, see Getting Started
With OpenSolaris 2009.06. Or, starting with the OpenSolaris 2009.06
release, you can build a SPARC image by using the automated installer
tool. For SPARC automated installation instructions, see the OpenSolaris
2009.06 Automated Installer Guide."/
The above paragraph is little confusing. Is it directing the user to
see other guides for installing the created image? It mentions Automated
Installer only for SPARC.
The utility is called distro_const. The names distro_constr and
distro_contr are used in the draft. Please fix them.
/Page 10: "TABLE 2--2 Distribution Constructor Files"/
The table doesn't contain AI related configuration file. It contains
only slim_cd
/Page 13: "You must make some edits to this file. "/
Can you add a sentence to explain why this file should be edited?
For example, the directory used for building the images should exist on
your system.
/Page 14: "Note -- If you want to install SPARC packages, specify the
http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev repository"/
This value http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev may not be right for the
final document. It will be http://pkg.opensolaris.org/release
/Page 15: "Note -- If the specified ZFS dataset is a sub-dataset of an
existing dataset, the existing ZFS dataset must have compression disabled."
/Can you provide a pointer to ZFS docs to help the user to disable
compression if enabled.
/Page 15: "<build_area>/build_data/tmp -- Temporary directory used by
constructor and finalizer scripts."/
constructor --> distribution constructor
Page 16: "Note -- Always backup the original manifest file and the
default scripts before copying them. Your custom scripts are not supported."
What do you mean by "Your custom scripts are not supported"?
/Page 17: "Create new scripts by using the existing scripts as models
for creating new scripts"/
The sentence could be rewritten like "Create new scripts by using
the existing scripts as models"
Thanks,
Sundar
