The goal here is simplicity I believe.  I think it's a reasonable 
assertion that most users won't be re-partitioning their system once it 
is installed.  For those users that are interested in doing so, the tool 
is available under the appropriate menu.

Lots of software is 'interesting' and I don't think its onerous to 
require users to actually look at the menu to find software they are 
interested in, as it isn't really practical to put an icon for every 
interesting piece of software on the desktop.
