Don't bother trying to run the fridge on 12V as it is the least
efficient of the three power sources. If you gave up the will to live
loking for spares then you certainly will waiting for the fridge to
cool down on 12V......and that's if the builder (Midland Canal
Centre, from memory) has installed a decent cross section of cable to
the fridge so that there isn't too much volt drop.
I did buy a new piezo unit for the RM 400 on our previous boat but it
was so long ago now I can't remember where I got it from. I'l have to
do some digging.
Some questions/pointers:
Does it click loudly when you press the ignition button?
Can you see a spark when pressing the button if you look through the
flame ignition window? If you can then it's likely to be lack of gas
or blocked jet (see cobweb comment below).
Remove the fridge and check again at the back of the unit to see if
you have a spark.
Remove the metal cover from the jet area (only a few srews from
memory) and clean the cobwebs/dust out.
Check to see if you can light the fridge at the back with a match if
the piezo igniter will not work.
If the gas has been turned off at the bottles for some considerable
time, is the gas flowing well to the fridge. Light the cooker to
ensure that the gas is flowing well into the boat system and then try
relighting the fridge but be prepared, even then, for it to take a
while to light as the gas jet is very small and it takes a while to
purge the system of air.
These checks should identify the source of the problem and allow
correct diagnosis and you will have to go from there. If push comes
to shove and you can get access to the back of the fridge you could
always light it with a match at some inconvenience of course.
