To avoid- Atherstone if you want to eat- a more miserable collection of pubs I have yet to see!
To stop- The Hope and Anchor canalside at Syston, The Rising Sun at Willington, Foxton on the pub moorings to see the progress on the inclined plane, Anne C There's one halfway up Atherstone Locks which looks a bit odd but has moorings and we have found very friendly.
