The eTrex HCx is a wonderful beastie. I got one for Christmas and it's easily 
the best 
handheld GPS I've ever used. 

If you like OS maps, the Satmap units (www.satmap.com) are worth considering - 
no 
experience with them myself. One of the things I like about the eTrex (as a map 
enthusiast) 
is that, if you're a bit techy, you can load your own custom-built maps onto it.
