Unfortunately it's not a one off. Two weeks ago we sat at the Premier Inn, (the big building next to the blind turn) having walked the towpath from Trent Bridge when the cricket finished early on Sunday. Yes I know we could have been boating ;-)
This time two boats (G.R.P.'s) were racing along the section from the Courts to the turn, stopping waiting for each other then turning and racing back. However the section is straight and you can see what's coming and potentially it's less dangerous than the boat we saw coming from Meadow Lane who took the blind corner at speed on the wrong side of the canal cutting it completely. That was a trad hailing from Northern waters. Obviously in terms of whats allowed or expected, its bad out of order, and if it became common place i would be there with everyone defending the canals as a place not suitable for such speed. However, as a one off, on a quieter bit of canal, slowing down for passing boats etc, with hard banks all round. You could do a dam sight worse in my mind And as you say, theres nothing in the clip to positively identify the boat or the people really, something they probably knew at the time.
