Thoughts from a very long term mikuni user.

Always set the thermostat as high as it will go, 30degC
Manage the room temperature on the radiators with thermostatic valves.
Always have one radiator fully open as a heat leak.

Now for timings, with the MX40 its a doddle as it doesn't produce much heat:
Observe how long the system will run without the mikuni switching off, with
the MX40 on Parglena and just the bathroom radiator its about 3-3.5hrs, set
the timer for just under that time. i.e. I used to run mine from 0430 to
0700.
With The MX60 its a different beast I have had to cut it down to under 2hrs
without the rest of the radiators on.

So to summarise for frost protection if you have a shore line run tube
radiators if you don't want to do this turn all the radiators full on and
set the timer to come on from 0300 - 0600 then the mikuni wont cycle

Thermostats and diesel blown heaters do not work together!
TRV are the way forward
