Sounds like the stuff they sell in Screwfix (but that's only in red).
I've just sealed with Envirograf silicone fireproof sealant, which claims to be good to 1200 C and is black. If it gets that hot on the boat, the sealant might be the only recognisable bit left. Think it was about a tenner a tube. The only snag is that they recommend a slow drying regime (3 days for every 10 mm bead thickness). Bought it from <oilstoves.co.uk> which is an excellent establishment. Despite the name, they also have exploded diagrams of every wood burning stove which you have ever heard of on their web site, plus a lot which you won't be familiar with.
