I'd love to see VMs for CAS. I'd _really_ like to see them done using Turnkey Linux instead of some home brew, as the maintenance and extensibility would be vastly improved. Turnkey's TKLPatch and init scripting framework let you do some really great stuff. I could easily see a testing-oriented OVF, where you create a fresh appliance, answer some questions on first boot, and get a working quickstart. That would be a great first step. I also think turnkey has enough hooks to allow for production-oriented appliances. I know that some people on this list will have crazy configurations and even crazier security requirements, and these probably wouldn't work for you. However, a couple basic flavors of VMs, with init scripts to walk you through (or automate) deployment would be totally rad, and probably cover a decent number of production scenarios. That could really make CAS configuration and deployment even more accessible for non-Java shops. I'd be happy to start a wiki page if others want to discuss the possibilities. -Aaron --------------------------------- Aaron Fuleki Senior Web Architect Denison University 740.587.5752 --------------------------------- -- You are currently subscribed to [email protected] as: [email protected] To unsubscribe, change settings or access archives, see http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/JSG/cas-user
