I would not (not that I make those decisions). We use and support specific versions of Linux, tomcat, and Apache; I don't think it would be likely that a common VM would match our standard infrastructure. Maybe I would push for it if it was part of some sort of dynamically sizing "cloud" infrastructure. I already have servers, VMs etc. I don't need a new "arch/distro" in my way. What I would need is a better way to upgrade/manage the current one.
