I have also thought of raising gooseneck and therefore the boom to get more headroom under the bimini. When I couldn't get the bolts out, that project went to the bottom of the "to do" list. If you have a fixed gooseneck, occasionally check the clevis pin that holds the boom to the gooseneck. Mine was over half worn out. Can't really see it unless you remove it.
