Right now I have a custom made rigid outboard bracket. Basically it sticks out from the stern and allows the engine to mount in the same place as the cutout does except it is about 16" further aft of the cutout. As a bracket it is fine. But I can't reach the tilt/lock lever on my Honda 9.9 (it has cockpit controls for start/shift/speed, but not tilt). It is a major pain and I am thinking of removing this well made bracket and installing a Garelick 701091 (about $350-400). My question is, has anyone "plugged" the outboard hole? How would I make it secure enough to hold the bracket and engine? Any thoughts?
