Check your jib track screws too. I used simple green to clean up till I got
around to the project this year. Mine seeped brown stuff via the bolts and
nuts inside, dripped along the shelf, behind the cushions, to inside my
lockers. Finally got around to backing the screws out this year, resealed and
it
seems to have stopped. I'm still leaking somewhere, but at least I'm down a
little bit.

Bob,

This is likely not glue, but residue from wet/rotted wood from your deck or
the cabin sides (prime culprit is window frames). I had window leakage and
the cleanup was pretty easy - I used either Simple Green or a citrus cleaner -

but the prevention is another matter. You will want to figure out where this
is coming from, because it indicates water intrusion to the plywood in the
core.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Molasses Glue behind Cushions

Listees,

I know there was prior talk about this but I failed to save it. In the cabin
behind my cushions on both sides there appears to be a molasses color
residue which has leaked down along the inside of the hull.

If I remember correctly someone said this is from the sealent or epoxy or
something from the topsides - hull attachment.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what to use to clean it up?

  and lay it on us.

After sealing and resealing everything imaginable I found my leak under the
aft lip of the anchor locker. This area was not sealed and water migrated
from this area on the starboard side back to the low spot where cabin meets
hull . Was a problem for many years. Sealed it up and no problems since.
