Joe, I've trailered all kinds of boats all over the map. A Cat 27 on 2 short
trips, J-24's and 29's too many times to count, A Soverel 33 from NYC to
Biloxi, Ms and again from Biloxi to St.Pete and back. Even a Tripp 36 to KWRW
and back to Houston (we got a speeding ticket on that trip). The only permit
was the trip with the Tripp. Unless you run into a cop with an attitude you'll
be O.K. They usually won't hassle a private citizen with a boat unless you are
way huge or are doing something stupid. Besides the Cat 27 isn't that much
oversize.

With all this talk of trailering Catalina 27s I am wondering how difficult it
is to deal with perm its for oversize vehicles. Do you have to apply to each
state, and how far in advance? Do you have to give travel dates and routes or
do you get a blanket permit for a period of time for the entire state?
