I have had a Simrad TP10 for about 5 years. I would give it about 8 out
of 10. It works fine although it tends to get overpowered on a broad
reach if there is any swell and the winds are at all gusty. I would say
it's slightly underpowered for a Catalina 27 although its specs say its
designed for anything up to 3,700kg (8,140lbs) and up to 10m (33ft) in
length. The auto-tack function does not seem to work very efficiently.
I've never had a problem with the unit or with power consumption. Along
with my roller furling (and a working head), it was the most useful
addition that I've made to the boat.

Are these units overkill for C27?
