Chris,
Prep is everything but it is also very important to avoid using magic polish
products during the life of the boat. The pros avoid silicone based products
like the plague, in fact the 3M products I use all state clearly "silicone
free" under scoring it's importance.

Jim,
I used Brightsides for mine and it's been good for 3+ years so far (but
not a whole lot of use, unfortunately). And it has stood up under
pressure washings.
Prep is EVERYTHING. Any residue of wax, silicone, poly sealers, old
paint, etc. is going to give you adhesion problems - you need to prep with
a solvent beforehand, as sanding alone does not remove wax or silicone.
Although Awlgrip is more durable, Brightsides should not have given you
this problem unless there is an underlying issue.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Boot Stripe
Anyone repainted their stripes? I did mine last year with Brightsides,
which looked great when it went on. I moved the stripe up in back where
it spent most of the time in the water. Still, when the boat was pulled
and pressure washed this year most of the boot stripe from the cockpit
back came off. Before I blindly put Brightsides back on and plan on it
being an annual thing, I wondered if anyone else had found something
better.
I know Dr. Judy used Awlgrip on hers, if she is still on the list how did
that turn out?
Thanks,
