The primer may have made the difference. The stripe area was sanded completely and cleaned with Interlux solvent prior to painting, but not primed. I was doing some research this year on the Interlux site and saw the recommendation for the primer. I will give that a shot. Thanks all for your input, perhaps I was being too hard on the Brightsides, I will give it another shot if it ever warms up around here!

But I suspect the Brightsides came off because you didn't prep adequately. You have to sand the gelcoat, prime, and then paint with both Brighsides and Awlgrip. I did mine last year with Brightsides, which looked great when it went on. I moved the stripe up in back where it spent most of the time in the water. Still, when the boat was pulled and pressure washed this year most of the boot stripe from the cockpit back came off. Before I blindly put Brightsides back on and plan on it being an annual thing, I wondered if anyone else had found something better. I know Dr. Judy used Awlgrip on hers, if she is still on the list how did that turn out? Thanks, Jim Reinardy C27 #4223 "Irie" Milwaukee, WI
