Jim,

I used Brightsides for mine and it's been good for 3+ years so far (but not a 
whole lot of use, unfortunately).  And it has stood up under pressure washings.

Prep is EVERYTHING.  Any residue of wax, silicone, poly sealers, old paint, 
etc. is going to give you adhesion problems - you need to prep with a solvent 
beforehand, as sanding alone does not remove wax or silicone.  Although Awlgrip 
is more durable, Brightsides should not have given you this problem unless 
there is an underlying issue.
