The PO had the boat loaded down with lots of junk and had raised the
boot stripe. I now have it too high for my liking. There isn't much that
can be done about it now.

Mark,

I wondered about that too. The part that is gone spends a lot of time
under
water, especially compared to the rest of the stripe. I moved it up
from
the original location, but it still gets wet. I noticed that Awlgrip is
also not recommended for below waterline, so it is interesting that it
has
held up so well. Is your stripe in the factory location?

Jim

Before blaming the prep or the product... how much above the waterline
is the paint. My understanding is that Brightside is only suitable above
waterline. I used Brightside on a repair several years ago and it did
not stand up as well as I had hoped it might. This could be my prep work
though.

I had the yard do my boot strip a couple of summers ago and it still
looks just like the day it went on. (Awlgrip)

Anyone repainted their stripes? I did mine last year with Brightsides,
which looked great when it went on. I moved the stripe up in back where
it spent most of the time in the water. Still, when the boat was pulled
and pressure washed this year most of the boot stripe from the cockpit
back came off. Before I blindly put Brightsides back on and plan on it
being an annual thing, I wondered if anyone else had found something
better.

I know Dr. Judy used Awlgrip on hers, if she is still on the list how
did that turn out?

Thanks,
