Why would you want to do that? The rear cockpit traveler gives you much more
leverage and much more control over sail shape. My boat was equipped with a
coachroof traveler. It was always a fight to trim the main after tacking. Last
year, I replaced it with a new Garhauer aft-cockpit traveler. This unit is
parked on the cockpit coaming, rather than on the rear settee as in your case.
Catalina direct makes a replacement traveler to take the place of the one on
your boat if it is worn out. It has a 4:1 purchase, giving you plenty of muscle.

  Subject: catalina27-talk: Traveler upgrade

Greetings to all and a question:

Has anyone upgraded thier old-style rear-cockpit traveler to a mid-boom or
hatchtop traveler? I'm sure the question has been asked before, but I could
not find a good thread to refer to. Catalinadirect.com has what appears to be
an upgrade kit (~$600) but I cant find anyone out there vouching for it as a
replacement for the cockpit traveler.

Thanks ! After getting hammered by this listserver I'm finally going to use
it for a q ! :-D
