catalina27-talk: Rudder Design

Hello All,
I seem to be having a 
trouble with my rudder. I have been told that there was an extra 6"-12" added 
to the front of the rudder before I acquired the my boat. The tiller will throw 
the helmsman around in average winds. Does anyone have some proven dimensions I 
could  use to re-build my rudder with. Your help would be very appreciated.
